Medium to large, 15-30m in height and up to 130cm in diameter. Bark gry with cracks, peels off in thin flakes.
West coast semi-evergreen, Moist tesk bearning and Southen secondary mixed deciduous forest.
Wood diffuse porous. Occasionally wood semi-ring porous and/or ring porous. Tangential diameter of vessel lumina 100 to 200 micras. Vessels per mm2 6 to 10 (medium). Occasionally vessels with colored deposits. Axial parenchyma aliform. Axial parenchyma confluent. Axial parenchyma in discontinuous tangential lines. Axial parenchyma in marginal or in seemingly marginal bands. Ray width 1 to 3 cells.
