Wood Identification

Anatomic Description Of Wood

Wood diffuse porous. Occasionally vessels exclusively solitary (over 90%). Tangential diameter of vessel lumina 150 to 200 micras (medium). Occasionally vestured pits. Vessels per mm2 less than 6 (rare). Simple perforation plates. Vessel-ray pits similar to int Axial parenchyma in marginal or in seemingly marginal bands. Occasionally axial parenchyma in marginal or in seemingly marginal bands. Axial parenchyma aliform. Occasionally axial parenchyma confluent. Axial parenchyma storied. Prismatic crystals in chambered 4 to 10 rays per mm (medium). Rays storied. Rays 1 to 4 seriate. Body ray cells procumbent with one row of upright and/or square marginal cells (Kribs-III). Non-septate fibers. Fibers with simple to minutely bordered pits.

General Wood Description

Color

The sapwood is straw-yellow. The heartwood is yellow to yellowish brown, it is fairly distinct from heartwood. The silver figure is fine, slightly lustrous.

COLOR INDEX (1=Black, 7=Light yellow,white)

6

Grain

Straight or slightly interlocked.

Texture

The wood is mostly medium in texture.

Luster

Luster is reported to be moderate.

Natural Durability

Moderately durable to decay. Without preservative treatment, this species can be used only under risk of occasional re-humidification. It is not suited for uses with risks of permanent or long-lasting humidification. Moderately resistant to termites attack

Natural durability index (1= Very high durability, 7=Vey low durability)

3

Internal Growth Stresses

For this species no growth stresses are reported.

Silica Content

Silica Content: Silica is present. Amounts over 0.05% may affect wood processing. Silica Value: 0.49

Resistance To Impregnation

Nearly impossible to treat with a too much low penetration of the preservative substances.
