Description Of The Tree
Botanical Description
It is an evergreen, small to fairly large tree up to 40 m tall. The bole is up to 100 cm in diameter, sometimes with buttresses.
Natural Habitat
It is common in primary rainforests, it occurs on hill slopes and ridges up to 2,700 m of altitude, but mostly found in a range between 1,000 to 2,000 m.
Non Timber Uses
The bark, fruits and leaves of this species are reported to contain alkaloids.

Occasionally apotracheal axial parenchyma diffuse and/or diffuse in aggregates. Paratracheal axial parenchyma scanty and/or vasicentric. Axial parenchyma aliform. Axial parenchyma confluent. Prismati 4 to 10 rays per mm (medium). Occasionally rays storied. Occasionally rays exclusively uniseriate. Homogeneous rays and/or sub-homogeneous rays (all ray cells procumbent). Septate fibers present. Fibers with distinctly bordered pits. Fibers with simple to minutely bordered pits.
