Bridelia aubrevillei Pellegr.
The tree reaches a height of 32 m. The bole is sometimes 20 m long, nearly cylindrical, but not always straight. It presents small buttresses and short stilt roots or aerial roots at base. The trunk diameter attains 70 cm.
Bridelia grandis occurs in high closed forests, and secondary formations.
Wood diffuse porous. Vessels in radial multiples of 2 to 4. Tangential diameter of vessel lumina 100 to 150 micras (small). Tyloses thin walled. Vestured pits. Vessels per mm2 6 to 10 (medium). Reticulate, foraminate and/or other types of multiple perforation p Apotracheal axial parenchyma diffuse and/or diffuse in aggregates. Paratracheal axial parenchyma scanty and/or vasicentric. Prismatic crystals in chambered axial parenchyma cells and/or in fibers. 5 to 8 cells per parenchyma strand. 4 to 10 rays per mm (medium). Rays non-storied. Rays 1 to 4 seriate. Prismatic crystals in radial alignment in procumbent ray cells (chambered cells). Heterogeneous rays and/or multiseriate heterogeneous rays. Septate fibers present. Fibers with simple to minutely bordered pits.

The heartwood is grey-brown or brown, it is not clearly demarcated.
It has highly interlocked grain; special care is needed when drying because of frequent risks of distortion.
Fine texture is reported in this species.
