Wood Identification

Anatomic Description Of Wood

Occasionally vessels in diagonal and/or radial pattern. Tyloses common. Occasionally tangential diameter of vessel lumina 100 micras or less. Vessel-ray pits similar to intervessel pits in size and shape. Occasionally vascular/vasicentric tracheides present. I Axial parenchyma in continuous tangential lines (included in reticulate and scalariform). Rays more than 10 per mm (abundant). Rays exclusively uniseriate. Silica bodies in the ray cells. Body ray cells procumbent with mostly 2 to 4 rows of upright and/or square marginal cells (Kribs-II).
