Cameroon in Douala and Yaounde.
Wood diffuse porous. Occasionally vessels exclusively solitary (over 90%). Tangential diameter of vessel lumina 150 to 200 micras (medium). Tyloses thin walled. Non-vestured pits. Vessels per mm2 6 to 10 (medium). Simple perforation plates. Vessel-ray pits coars Axial parenchyma in marginal or in seemingly marginal bands. Paratracheal axial parenchyma scanty and/or vasicentric. Axial parenchyma lozenge-aliform. Non-crystals in axial parenchyma cells. 3 to 4 cells per parenchyma strand. 4 to 10 rays per mm (medium). Rays non-storied. Rays 1 to 4 seriate. Silica bodies in the ray cells. Body ray cells procumbent with mostly 2 to 4 rows of upright and/or square marginal cells (Kribs-II). Septate fibers present. Fibers with simple to minutely bordered pits.
Unrestricted
The heartwood is pink brown to greenish brown, it is not clearly demarcated. The silver figure is fine (not always visible).
5
Straight; grain has no particular influence on drying, machining and finishing qualities.
Texture is reported to be fine to medium.
The wood luster is reported to be rather low.
Very durable to decay; without preservative treatment. This species is especially suited for all the uses with risks of permanent or long-lasting humidification. Resistant to termites attack. Heartwood is resistant to Lyctus attacks.
1
Difficult to treat with only a low penetration of the preservative products.
Ease of Drying: The rate of shrinkage is medium. Drying is easy to moderately difficult. Drying Defects: Some drying defects such as end-checking, splitting, cupping and springing may occur. Since the timber tends to warp and twist weighting down of stacks during air drying is recommended. Kiln Schedules: The rate of drying is rather similar to light red meranti. Mild kiln schedules are requiring in drying.
FR-8
It is easy to saw.
Suitable for slicing, also suitable for peeling if treated.

Severe blunting effect; stellited blades for sawing and carbide tools for machining are recommended.
Possible difficulties caused by interlocked grain are reported.
Moderately easy; tools must be cautiously sharpened.
