Eugenia griffithii Duthie
It is a medium-sized to fairly large tree up to 36 m. The bole is up to 70 cm in diameter. Buttresses up to 5 m high are reported.
Syzygium griffithii is widely distributed in lowland and hill forests.
The wood is rich in tannins.
Vestured pits. Vessels per mm2 5 to 20. Vessel-ray pits reticulate and/or foraminate. Simple perforation plates. Intervessel pits medium, 7 to 10 micras. Apotracheal axial parenchyma diffuse and/or diffuse in aggregates. Paratracheal axial parenchyma scanty and/or vasicentric. Axial parenchyma aliform. Prismatic crystals in non-chambered axial parenchyma cells. Prismatic crystals in chambered axial parenchyma 4 to 10 rays per mm (medium). Rays of two distinct sizes. Body ray cells procumbent with mostly 2 to 4 rows of upright and/or square marginal cells (Kribs-II). Fibers very thick walled. Fibers with distinctly bordered pits.

The heartwood is pale brown to purplish brown color, with a purplish tinge. The sapwood is paler in color.

It is non-lustrous.
The wood is susceptible to blue stain and insect attack and it should be protected when not used immediately.
