The mature tree is reported to be small to medium, attaining heights of 20 to 25 m, and trunk diameters of about 28 cm in the average. It presents small buttresses.
Pleurothyrium bracteatum grows in the northern forests of Colombia. It is reported at 1,100 m of altitude.
In Colombia it grows in the regions of San Luis and Antioquia , and it is also found in Boyaca.
Vessels exclusively solitary (over 90%). White deposits in heartwood vessels. Axial parenchyma absent or extremely rare, non visible with magnifying glass (8x).

Seasoned wood has no characteristic odor or taste.
The sapwood is not clearly differentiated, the heartwood is pale brown.
The grain is usually straight.
The wood is typically medium in texture.
The wood surface is moderate in luster.
Ease of Drying: Air seasoning is reported to be slow. Drying Defects: It has a tendency to warp and check.
