Large tree;hight up to 25m,DBH up to 60 cm or more; long bole. cylindrical, erect and tapering.
Endemic, widely distributed from Northern Luzon to Mindanao in thickets and medium altitudes.
Wood diffuse porous. Simple perforation plates. Vessel-ray pits similar to intervessel pits in size and shape. Tangential diameter of vessel lumina 100 to 200 micras. Vessels per mm2 less than 6 (rare). Axial parenchyma aliform. Axial parenchyma confluent. Prismatic crystals in non-chambered axial parenchyma cells. Prismatic crystals in chambered axial parenchyma cells and/or in fibers. 4 to 10 rays per mm (medium). Larger rays more than 4 seriate. Heterogeneous rays and/or multiseriate heterogeneous rays. Prismatic crystals in the ray cells. Fibers with simple to minutely bordered pits.
