It is a straight and cylindrical tree, with commercial bole lengths of 13 m and diameters of 60 cm.
In Brazil it is found in the lower Amazon region, Belém, Gurupá, Almirim highland and Tapajós river (Pará) and Rondonia.
Occasionally vessels per mm2 less than 6. Wood diffuse porous. Occasionally tangential diameter of vessel lumina 200 micras or more. Paratracheal axial parenchyma scanty and/or vasicentric. Axial parenchyma aliform. Axial parenchyma confluent.

The heartwood and sapwood are distinct. The heartwood is strong brown with slight lines and the sapwood is pale yellow.

The texture varies from medium to coarse.
The wood is moderate in luster.
