The tree can reach up to 55 m in height and 85 cm in diameter. The boles are usually cylindrical, but often fluted at the base, branchless for 40 m.
This species occurs scattered or in small groups in primary rainforest, from the sea level up to 1,600 m of altitude.
Wood diffuse porous. Vessels in diagonal and/or radial pattern. Occasionally vessels in radial multiples of 4 or more common. Occasionally vessel clusters common. Occasionally tangential diameter of vessel lumina 100 micras or less. Occasionally tyloses common Apotracheal axial parenchyma diffuse and/or diffuse in aggregates. Occasionally prismatic crystals in chambered axial parenchyma cells and/or in fibers. 3 to 4 cells per parenchyma strand. 5 to 8 cells per parenchyma strand. Occasionally axial parenchyma in n 4 to 10 rays per mm (medium). Occasionally rays more than 10 per mm (abundant). Occasionally larger rays more than 4 seriate.
