The bole is straight and cylindrical, may be up to 26 m in length. The trunk diameter attains 120 cm. It has medium sized buttresses, up to 2 m tall.
West Africa, in Cameroon, Gabon and in the Republic of the Congo.
Tyloses common. Vessels per mm2 less than 6 (rare). Multiple perforation plates. Vessel-ray pits larger than the intervessel pits. Apotracheal axial parenchyma diffuse and/or diffuse in aggregates. Prismatic crystals in chambered axial parenchyma cells and/or in fibers. Heterogeneous rays and/or multiseriate heterogeneous rays.

The heartwood is yellowish white, it is not demarcated.
