It is an evergreen, very big tree, up to 40 m in height and 100 cm in diameter. The bole is straight and cylindrical with large buttresses at the base.
Ficus species are generally found below 1,500 m of altitude in a wide range of habitats but mangrove forests.
Vessels per mm2 less than 6 (rare). Tyloses common. Tangential diameter of vessel lumina 100 to 200 micras. Vessel-ray pits reticulate and/or foraminate. Simple perforation plates. Intervessel pits medium, 7 to 10 micras. Paratracheal axial parenchyma scanty and/or vasicentric. Prismatic crystals in non-chambered axial parenchyma cells. Axial parenchyma bands more than 3 cells wide. Larger rays more than 4 seriate. Prismatic crystals in upright and/or square ray cells. Body ray cells procumbent with mostly 2 to 4 rows of upright and/or square marginal cells (Kribs-II). Sheath cells. Fibers with distinctly bordered pits.

The heartwood is pale yellow-brown or various shades from yellow to pink-gray, not clearly differentiated from the sapwood.
The grain is straight, interlocked to deeply interlocked.
The texture varies from moderately coarse to coarse.
The wood is non-durable and not resistant to termite and fungal attack.
