The tree reaches a height of 15 m. The bole is rarely straight, usually short and low-branched. The trunk diameter attains 50 cm. Log is banned for international trading.(Cameroon)
Swartzia madagascariensis prefers open forests and savanna, sometimes grows on rocky soil.
