Anatomic Description Of Wood

Wood diffuse porous. Occasionally vessels exclusively solitary (over 90%). Tangential diameter of vessel lumina 200 micras or more (large). Tyloses sclerotic. Tyloses common. Vessels per mm2 less than 6 (rare). Vessel-ray pits similar to intervessel pits in siz Axial parenchyma confluent. Axial parenchyma oblique and/or sinuous. Occasionally axial parenchyma in continuous tangential lines (included in reticulate and scalariform). Prismatic crystals in non-chambered axial parenchyma cells. 5 to 8 cells per parenchyma 4 to 10 rays per mm (medium). Rays 1 to 4 seriate. Occasionally prismatic crystals in the ray cells. Heterogeneous rays and/or multiseriate heterogeneous rays. Body ray cells procumbent with mostly 2 to 4 rows of upright and/or square marginal cells (Kribs-II Fibers with distinctly bordered pits.
