General Wood Description

Color

Heart wood color ranges from orange to pale reddish-brown and is sometimes streaky. sapwood is lighter in color or pale brown.

Grain

The grain straight or slightly interlocked.

Texture

Texture fine.

Natural Durability

Sapwood is susceptible to Lyctus attack. Heartwood is not durable being rated adequate only for hazard 1 end use. Timber out of ground contact. continuously protected from the weather.

Sawing

saw faces packed with saw dust

Rotary Veneer Cutting

not assessed

Sliced Veneer

not assessed

Machining

Good surfaces are obtained machining seasoned timber, although slight chipping occurs on some radial faces because of interlocked grain. Reduced cutting angle will ensure better results
