It is a tree to 36 m tall, 75 cm in diameter. It present buttresses 2.5 m high.
Pleiogynium timorense is planted in the Cook Islands and Hawaii.
Wood diffuse porous. Occasionally tangential diameter of vessel lumina 100 micras or less. Tyloses common. Vessels per mm2 5 to 20. Simple perforation plates. Intervessel pits medium, 7 to 10 micras. Intervessel pits large, 10 micras or more. Axial parenchyma in marginal or in seemingly marginal bands. Paratracheal axial parenchyma scanty and/or vasicentric. Occasionally paratracheal axial parenchyma scanty and/or vasicentric. Occasionally axial parenchyma aliform. Occasionally prismatic crystals 4 to 10 rays per mm (medium). Prismatic crystals in radial alignment in procumbent ray cells (chambered cells). Prismatic crystals in the ray cells. Body ray cells procumbent with mostly 2 to 4 rows of upright and/or square marginal cells (Kribs-II). Body ray Septate fibers present. Fibers with simple to minutely bordered pits.

The heartwood is dark red-brown with dark bands. The sapwood is pale pink to pink-brown.

It is moderately durable to durable when exposed to the weather or in contact with the ground.
