Andira aubletii Benth.
It is a medium sized to large tree 30 to 35 m tall, with diameter at breast height usually 40 up to 100 cm. The boles are straight but the fluted in the base, 15 to 20 m long.

Wood diffuse porous. Vessels solitary and in short radial multiples. Tangential diameter of vessel lumina 150 to 200 micras (medium). Occasionally vessels with colored deposits. Occasionally white deposits in heartwood vessels. Vessels per mm2 6 to 10 (medium) Occasionally axial parenchyma in marginal or in seemingly marginal bands. Axial parenchyma aliform. Axial parenchyma confluent. Occasionally prismatic crystals in chambered axial parenchyma cells and/or in fibers. 5 to 8 cells per parenchyma strand. 4 to 10 rays per mm (medium). Rays 1 to 4 seriate. Homogeneous rays and/or sub-homogeneous rays (all ray cells procumbent). Fibers with simple to minutely bordered pits.

Dry wood has no characteristic odor or taste.
The sapwood is clearly demarcated. The heartwood is dark brown or reddish brown, darkening upon exposure. Colored parenchyma lines are reported to be present.

Texture is rather coarse, but uniform.
Luster is generally low to medium.
It is very resistant to attack by decay-causing organisms. It is also reported to be resistant to attack by termites and other dry-wood insects.
