IDENTIFICACIÓN DE LA MADERA

Descripción anatómica de la madera

Wood diffuse porous. Occasionally vessels exclusively solitary (over 90%). Tangential diameter of vessel lumina 100 to 150 micras (small). Vestured pits. Vessels per mm2 10 to 20 (abundant). Simple perforation plates. Vessel-ray pits similar to intervessel pits Occasionally axial parenchyma confluent. Axial parenchyma confluent unilateral paratracheal. Axial parenchyma storied. Prismatic crystals in chambered axial parenchyma cells and/or in fibers. 3 to 4 cells per parenchyma strand. 4 to 10 rays per mm (medium). Rays storied. Rays 1 to 4 seriate. Homogeneous rays and/or sub-homogeneous rays (all ray cells procumbent). Non-septate fibers. Fibers with simple to minutely bordered pits.

DESCRIPCIÓN GENERAL DE LA MADERA

Olor

Light and pleasant odor.

Color

The sapwood is pale yellow brown, it has a thickness of 2.5 cm. The heartwood is yellow-brown darkening on exposure-dark veins, it is clearly demarcated. The silver figure is fine.

Indice de Color (1= Negro, violeta; 7= Amarillo claro, blanco)

4

Grano

Straight or sometimes interlocked. Usually interlocked grain is absent or very slight, without any effect on further processing operations.

Veta

Fine texture is reported in this species.

Brillo

Luster is usually low.

Durabilidad Natural

Because of variable resistance to decay, this species can be only considered as durable to decay; it can be utilized without preservative treatment for exterior joinery or similar uses. Resistant to termites attack. Heartwood is resistant to Lyctus attack

Indice de Durabilidad Natural (1=Muy alta, 7=Muy baja)

2

Internal growth stresses

For this species no growth stresses are reported.

Contenido de sílice

Silica Content: Negligible contents of silica are found in timber of this species. Amounts over 0.05% may affect the wood processing. Silica Value: 0.02

Dificultad para impregnar

Nearly impossible to treat with a too much low penetration of the preservative substances.
