Descripción botánica
The trees are reported to reach heights of 25 to 35 m, and diameters of 40 to 80 cm. The boles are straight and cylindrical, up to 18 m long. The buttresses are medium sized to well developed. It presents abundant white latex. Pouteria trees have edible f
Hábitat natural
Pouteria reticulata occurs in mixed lowland tropical and subtropical rain forests, in a range between 100 to 1,500 m of altitude. In Venezuela it is reported to grow grouped in formations called "chuponales".
Distribución natural
This species is reported to be widely distributed all over the tropical and subtropical forests in Central and South America.

Vessels per mm2 more than 20 (very abundant). Vessels in radial multiples of 4 or more common. Axial parenchyma in marginal or in seemingly marginal bands. Axial parenchyma in continuous tangential lines (included in reticulate and scalariform). Rays more than 10 per mm (abundant). Rays exclusively uniseriate.
